What is it called?
- Assisted Living Facility
What services are provided?
- 24-hour on-site direct care staff
- Assistance with activities of daily living
- 3 meals a day, 7 days a week
- Nursing assessment, health monitoring, and routine nursing tasks
- Access to additional services for medically related care and social work services
- Medication administration
- Household services (floor cleaning, dusting, bed making)
- Transportation
- Maintenance of personal fund accounts for residents, showing deposits and withdrawals
Who can be admitted?
- Each facility will use its professional judgment in determining who may be admitted
Who is inappropriate?
- Must be refused admission
- Each facility will use its professional judgment in determining who may not be admitted
- Can be evicted
- Imminent danger to self or others
- Inability of facility to meet resident’s needs with available support services
- Failing to abide by agreements
What training is required for direct care staff?
- CPR and first aid training
- Minimum six hours annual in-service training
Is nurse staffing required?
- Licensed nursing staff must be available seven days a week to meet the care management and monitoring needs of the residents
Is any public payment available?
- Yes. The Medicaid program may pay for assisted living services through a Home and Community Based Services Waiver.
