(2/20/08) ALCA opposes Illinois bill authorizing surveys every two years for most assisted living facilities
The Assisted Living Consumer Alliance submitted a statement to the Illinois legislature opposing House Bill 4264, which would authorize the health department to conduct on-site reviews of most assisted living facilities with two-year licenses on a two-year survey cycle, rather than annually, as at present. ALCA expressed concern that the bill would perpetuate and codify Illinois’ inadequate oversight of assisted living facilities. The state currently assigns a single surveyor to the state’s 230 assisted living facilities.
