(02/09) New Jersey Senate approves bill to require assisted living facilities to have a defibrillator and a staff member trained its use
A bill to require all assisted living facilities in New Jersey within a year to have a defibrillator and staff trained its use, S2146, unanimously passed the New Jersey Senate. Senator Madden, sponsor of the legislation, said, “‘This bill would codify existing Department of Health and Senior Service regulations and bring these facilities in closer in line with nursing homes and other health-related institutions, by making sure that employees are trained in the steps necessary to help treat residents with heart conditions.’” Press Release, “Madden bill to require assisted living facilities to have defibrillators clears Senate” (Feb. 23, 2009).
