(07/09) South Carolina Protection and Advocacy organization releases report on weak oversight of community residential care facilities
Following a 14-month investigation, which included 150 unannounced visits to community residential care facilities (CRCFs) that documented “appalling conditions” for residents, South Carolina’s Protection and Advocacy for People with Disabilities, Inc. issued a report, No Place To Call Home: How South Carolina Has Failed Residents of Community Residential Care Facilities, and called on the state’s elected officials to strengthen oversight of CRCFs.
