What services are provided?
· Facility provides
o Limited and intermittent nursing services
o May choose to have a specialized unit for Alzheimer’s diseased residents (or related dementia)
· Third-party services
o Residents may receive services from a certified home health agency or a licensed hospice agency
Who can be admitted?
· Needs no more than intermittent nursing care
Who is inappropriate?
· Requires extensive or ongoing nursing care
What training is required for direct care staff?
· Initial training
o Emergency procedures
o Abuse prevention and reporting
o Infection control
· Continuing training
o Annually on same topics as above
· Additional training
o Non-nurses must complete a state-developed training and pass an exam in order to administer medication
Is nurse staffing required?
· Registered nurse must oversee nursing care and services
